Each regular meeting includes devotions, patriotic exercises, and a three-minute National Defense Report. Chapter meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month, October through June, unless otherwise specified. The chapter is involved in many community service activities. Each year the chapter participates in the Miami Springs Fourth of July Parade and passes out hundreds of American flags to parade observers.

John Macdonald Chapter was designated a Korean War Commemoration Partner;
it has sponsored programs to honor veterans and their families and supported school programs in teaching American history. 

The chapter supports many local high schools in their ROTC activities and provides the ROTC medals to each year's top student.
